PHOENIX (AP) - A standoff between an armed robbery suspect and Phoenix police is over after the man fatally shot himself.

Police identified the man as 27-year-old Andrew Joseph Desgranges.

The man was holed up in his northwest Phoenix home for several hours before the standoff ended.

Police say Desgranges shot himself while in view of detectives and was pronounced dead at the scene by Phoenix Fire Department paramedics.

Police say the suspect took a cab from a store near a Subway shop that was robbed about 5 a.m. Wednesday.



Nobody was injured in the robbery and no officers were hurt in the standoff which ended about 11:30 a.m.
