ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) - Roswell voters elected former New Mexico legislator Dennis Kintigh over incumbent Del Jurney by nearly a 2-to-1 ratio in results from the mayor’s race in Tuesday’s election.

According to unofficial vote totals released by the city, Kintigh had just over 3,500 votes while Jurney had just under 1,590 votes.

Kintigh is a retired FBI agent, a former state representative and a Chaves County sheriff’s deputy who went on leave to run for mayor.
