PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Senate has passed a proposed constitutional amendment that would allow Deadwood casinos to offer roulette, keno and craps.

Senators on Wednesday voted 25-10 to support the measure.

South Dakota voters will choose whether to authorize the change to the constitution in the November general election.

Opponents of the measure say gambling addiction has caused harm to state residents and shouldn’t be expanded.

Supporters say Deadwood casinos need new games to enhance and reinvigorate their offerings to compete with gambling in neighboring states. They say it draws tourists and supports the state economy.
