HARTFORD, Ky. (AP) - A section of highway in western Kentucky will be closed for construction of a new bridge, beginning Monday.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says U.S. 62 will be closed at mile point 12.314 in Ohio County east of Beaver Dam and Hartford, between Green Meadows Drive and Mildred Lane.

The replacement of the bridge over Muddy Creek will require U.S. 62 to be closed to through traffic from U.S. 231 at mile point 10.590 to Kentucky 1543 at mile point 12.761. A detour will be marked and will add about six miles to a trip from the Natcher Parkway into Beaver Dam.

The new bridge is expected to be ready for traffic by August.
