INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis police say a man has surrendered following a hit-and-run crash that killed a 7-month-old boy ejected from his parents’ car.

Police say 30-year-old Gary Shinnamon II of Indianapolis surrendered to detectives at his attorney’s office Thursday afternoon. He faces preliminarily charges of failure to stop at an accident resulting in death and two counts of driving with a suspended license.

The name of the attorney wasn’t released.

Police say the infant was thrown from the back seat when his parents’ car was rear-ended Tuesday night on the city’s northwest side. The child died the next day at a hospital. His name hasn’t been released.

Police say two men fled from the other car. They say the victim’s father and witnesses at the scene helped detectives identify the driver.
