NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A Virginia-based warship is heading to the Black Sea.
The Navy says the USS Truxtun left Greece on Thursday to conduct training and theater security engagements with Romanian and Bulgarian naval forces. The Navy says the Truxtun’s operations in the Black Sea were scheduled well in advance of its February departure from the United States.
The Truxtun is a guided-missile destroyer that’s based in Norfolk. It has a crew of about 300 and is on a regularly-scheduled deployment with the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group.
