FOUKE, Ark. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a woman’s body was found in the Sulphur River in southwest Arkansas.

The Miller County Sheriff’s Office says fishermen found the body Wednesday afternoon in the river about 9 miles south of Fouke. Chief Deputy Dewayne White tells the Texarkana Gazette (https://bit.ly/NX2Zr1 ) that authorities are awaiting the results of DNA tests to determine the woman’s identity.

The body has been sent to the State Crime Lab in Little Rock.

But investigators say they don’t believe the body belongs to Janice Northcross, who has been missing since Feb. 8. Northcross jumped or fell in the Red River near Fulton to avoid a tractor-trailer that was skidding toward her on an icy bridge.
