OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - Ocean Springs leaders have passed a short-term rental law.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1igi1Si) the ordinance would generate revenue from property owners who rent out their homes or apartments for events.

For property owners in commercial areas of the city, the practice of short-term rentals is now legal.

Dian Willhoite asked the Board of Aldermen Thursday night to go ahead and extend the ordinance to those rentals in neighborhoods as well. But instead, they passed the ordinance as-is and promised to consider neighborhoods later.
