MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - The Myrtle Beach area is welcoming the country’s Canadian neighbors for an annual celebration.

The 53rd annual Canadian-American Days Festival is scheduled to begin on Saturday and continue through March 16.

Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Brad Dean says the event is designed to give people from Canada a chance to enjoy the mild climate of the South Carolina coast after a long winter.

The festival includes such things as free concerts, a road race and dancing.

The event also includes St. Patrick’s Day festivals next weekend in both Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach.
