LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Jennifer Clark scored 22 points to lead Mount Carmel to a 69-60 win over Destrehan in the Class 5A state championship game.

The Cubs (29-6) gradually extended a two-point halftime lead in the second half behind the scoring of guards Clark, Taylor Berry and Paige Frankiewicz.

Destrehan cut a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to four with 1:23 remaining, but Mount Carmel answered with fast break baskets by Berry and Clark to put the game away.

Frankiewicz scored 14 points off the bench, including 11 in the third quarter, while Berry added 17.

Freshman Cara Ursin led Destrehan (32-2) with 23 points. Jasmine Morris added 14 while Jordan Dabney and Alexis Jackson scored 10 each.

Ursin scored 15 in the first half to keep Destrehan close at 32-30, but was held to a single field goal attempt in the third quarter as Mount Carmel pulled away.

Frankiewicz made all three of her 3-point attempts in the third quarter to spark a 17-7 run that put the Cubs in control.
