PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a security guard shot a man multiple times at a northern New Jersey restaurant, just moments after the man allegedly shot another patron during a fight.

Paterson police say 20-year-old Anthony Olivo of Ridgewood faces attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons charge stemming from the shooting, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. He was arrested at a hospital after he sought treatment for his wounds.

Authorities say Olivo claimed he was shot in another area of Paterson, but authorities determined that wasn’t true. Olivo was being held pending a court appearance, and it wasn’t known if he had retained a lawyer.

The 22-year-old man allegedly shot by Olivo was treated for a right leg wound.

No charges have been filed against the security guard, whose name wasn’t released.
