YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - Led by tournament MVP Julie Spencer, W.F. West ran past defending champ Mark Morris 48-37 on Saturday en route to the Class 2A girls state championship.

Spencer poured in 20 points, including 11 in the second half, as the Bearcats (25-2) led the entire game to win the rubber match between the two schools this year. Mark Morris beat the Bearcats for the 2013 championship.

All-tournament selection Nike McClure grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked two shots for the Bearcats, whose size inside led to a 49-30 rebounding advantage. Spencer made 8 of 12 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers. Karley Eaton led Mark Morris (24-3) with 12 points, and Kourtney Eaton added 11. They were named to the all-tournament second team and first team, respectively.

Also on the all-tourney first team was White River’s Kendall Bird.

In the third-place game, Elisa Kooiman sank six free throws in overtime to lift Lynden to a 53-48 overtime victory over Ellensburg. Kooiman finished with 14 points and Stephanie Somers a game-high 19 for the Lions (20-8). Ellensburg (22-4) had a chance to win it in regulation, but Alexa Orcutt missed two free throws with 1.2 seconds left. Orcutt led the Bulldogs with 17 points, including nine in the second half.

Earlier, Kendall Bird scored a game-high 23 points to lead White River to fourth place with a 62-55 win over East Valley of Spokane. Bird made 8 of 19 shots and 7 of 13 free-throw attempts in the victory. Amanda Lance added 17 points.

The Hornets (24-6) converted 25 of 43 free-throw tries as East Valley (21-5) committed 28 fouls. Alex Rankin and Hannah Burand led EV with 15 points each, and Jordan Phlean grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Knights, who outrebounded WR 56-37. Kristin Sturdivan brought down nine rebounds and Bird had seven for the Hornets.
