WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - Two citizen groups in Williston are hosting a meeting to educate area residents on North Dakota housing laws.

The groups have scheduled the meeting for Saturday at Williston High School.

The Williston Herald (https://bit.ly/1hY5S61 ) reports that organizers say the meeting is intended to teach area residents about their rights as renters or tenants. A member of the North Dakota Legal Services Division is expected to address the audience.

An oil boom has led to a housing crunch as people have flocked to the region in search of high-paying jobs. A recent national study from an apartment renting guide found that Williston has the highest average rent in America.

Williston’s population has more than doubled since the 2010 Census.
