GLOSTER, Miss. (AP) - An auditor has recommended tightening spending practices after the 2012-2013 audit turned up expenses in excess of the budget for the town of Gloster.

The Enterprise-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/NxmFSi ) Tommy Lindley of the firm Haddox, Reid & Eubanks told aldermen this past week the town should monitor expenses monthly to stop the practice.

Lindley told the Board of Aldermen the over-budget expenditures included almost $73,000 in the general fund, nearly $49,000 in the water and sewer fund, about $7,800 in the natural gas fund and more than $180 in the fire protection fund.

Aldermen voted to accept the audit report.
