CINCINNATI (AP) - A house fire has killed a Cincinnati husband and wife who were in their 80s.

WLWT-TV reports that fire crews arrived to the burning home Sunday morning but were unable to save Hank and Janet Drescher. The pair were pronounced dead at a local hospital

Police say that 80-year-old Hank Drescher is a retired police officer.

Neighbor Vicki Wnuk tells The Cincinnati Enquirer that Hank used to be a detective for Cincinnati police.

She says he and his wife were kind people and had three adult children.

More than 10 fire departments were called to the scene. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
