KENNER, La. (AP) - The city of Kenner is set to resume its popular “Movies in the Park” outdoor screening series.

Beginning Saturday, and every Saturday thereafter in May, the city will show a different family-friendly movie for free on a 25-foot outdoor movie screen at Heritage Park in Rivertown. The movies are free and begin at 8 p.m.

Saturday’s screening will be of “Smurfs 2.”

The film program will be accompanied by a free Music in the Park program, which will play out every Friday in May.

All musical performance will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Heritage Park except for a May 30 Topcats performance that will be on a stage on Williams Boulevard as part of a celebration of Kenner’s designation as a Main Street community. Others set to perform include Category 6 on Saturday; August Rush on May 9; Mojeaux on May 16 and Papa C and the Slammin Horns on May 23.

“We are very proud to be able to offer great, family-friendly fun throughout the month of May,” Mayor Michael Yenni said.
