WEST WENDOVER, Nev. (AP) - A 52-year-old Montello man has been charged with attempted murder after Elko County sheriff’s deputies say he tried to kill his ex-wife.
Lane W. Shelton is accused of firing a handgun at the woman during a domestic dispute at his home Tuesday afternoon about 10 miles northwest of West Wendover.
Undersheriff Clair Morris told the Elko Daily Free Press (https://tinyurl.com/n6kaww7) that Shelton shot at her through the living room window after she left the house and was crossing the front lawn. He missed and she was able to safely reach a neighbor’s house, where she called the sheriff.
Deputies found an empty shell casing at his house and a handgun in his vehicle.
His bail is set at $100,000.
