PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - More than two dozen members of the Providence Fire Department are being promoted.

Mayor Angel Taveras and Chief Clarence Cunha are holding a promotion ceremony at city hall on Friday afternoon.

Thirty members of the department will be promoted to various ranks, including assistant chief of department, fire marshal, honorary chief, battalion chief, captain and lieutenant.

Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare and City Council President Michael Solomon are also expected to attend. The ceremony is being held in the council chamber.
