WANTAGH, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island are investigating a threatening message left in a boy’s bathroom at Wantagh High School.

A Nassau County police spokesman says the high school and middle school were evacuated as a precaution.

The buildings are adjacent.

Maureen Goldberg is Wantagh’s superintendent of schools. She says in a message posted on the district website that high school students were being moved to the Forest Lake Elementary School.

Middle school students were being sent to St. Francis Church.

She said a threatening message was found in the boy’s bathroom.

Police say they received the call at about 9:25 a.m.
