CARROLLTON, Miss. (AP) - City officials are renovating the Carrollton Community House, a popular destination for weddings and family reunions.

Carrollton City Clerk Linda McGregor says that the building’s air conditioning system was recently replaced for $6,300.

She says a programmable thermostat has been installed to better control the interior temperature when the building isn’t in use.

The Greenwood Commonwealth (https://bit.ly/1saFiIW) reports that McGregor told the Carrollton Board of Aldermen that the city is also negotiating a price for a new roof with Dixie Roofing of Winona.

Other renovations are also being considered.

The Community House remains in use, and McGregor says the roofing work will be scheduled to not interfere with scheduled events.
