HULL, England (AP) - On-loan striker Romelu Lukaku scored his 16th goal of the season for Everton as the Merseyside club concluded a successful Premier League campaign with a 2-0 win at Hull on Sunday.

Lukaku scored just after halftime from Leon Osman’s pass on what could be his last match in an Everton shirt. The powerful striker has been instrumental in Everton’s impressive season and it is unsure whether Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will bring the Belgium international back to Stamford Bridge next season.

Several Premier League clubs have reportedly shown interest in signing the highly rated player, who was signed by Chelsea for 17 million pound ($28 million) three years ago.

After dominating the early stages, Everton deservedly opened the scoring in the 9th minute when James McCarthy netted his first goal for the Toffees after latching onto Steven Naismith’s pass.

The home side applied more pressure toward the end but could not pull one back as Curtis Davies headed a corner wide from six yards as Everton claimed its 21st league win of the season.

“It was the perfect way to sign off the season,” said Everton manager Roberto Martinez. “I thought today was a test for us, in many ways because of the high standards we have set. It’s been a terrific season and I don’t think this group of players know how to perform in any other way.”

The victory ensured fifth-placed Everton ended the season with 72 points, the club’s highest tally since the club won the English title in 1987.

Everton had already qualified for next season’s Europa League along with Hull, which will be playing in the FA Cup final against Arsenal next weekend.
