LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - State police are investigating the cause of a two-car head-on crash in the Mohawk Valley that left one person dead and three others injured.

Troopers say a car operated by 83-year-old Francis Kiniry of Syracuse was traveling west on state Route 5 around 5 p.m. Sunday when it crossed the center line and drove into the path of an eastbound SUV driven by 57-year-old Russell Martin of Johnstown.

Martin was pronounced dead at the scene, which happened in the Herkimer County city of Little Falls, 65 miles east of Syracuse. His 63-year-old wife was taken to Little Falls Hospital with minor injuries.

Kiniry and his 87-year-old wife are listed in serious condition at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

Troopers say the investigation is continuing.
