WAPELLO, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say they believe a body recovered from the Iowa River belongs to a missing man.

The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office in southeast Iowa says officials presume the body recovered Sunday is that of 36-year-old Michael Russell Matson, of Wapello. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Matson was reported missing Wednesday after his vehicle was found running and unoccupied on the Highway 99 Iowa River Bridge. Authorities say the body in the river was discovered about two miles from the bridge.

Foul play is not suspected in Matson’s disappearance. Additional information was not released.
