SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - The operator of a Cochise County jail has been named Jail Commander of the Year for the state of Arizona.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office says Commander Kenneth Bradshaw was selected for the award by the Arizona Detention Association.

Bradshaw was nominated by Chaplain Doug Parker.

Parker says the jail is operating more efficiently since Bradshaw took over and he is working to improve inmate and staff programs.

Sheriff Mark Daniels says he is proud of Bradshaw for providing a positive direction and motivation for other staff.

The Arizona Detention Association was formed so that jails throughout the state could share information and work on training.
