MATHEWS, La. (AP) - Construction of a new boat launch in Leeville is expected to begin this week and be completed by October.
Lafourche Parish officials say the $1.1 million launch will be built at the site of the old Leeville drawbridge.
The launch is expected to accommodate about 60 trucks with boat trailers. It will have two concrete ramps and a kayak launching area.
Dredging, bulkhead and dock construction also are part of the project. A fishing wharf will be added later.
The development is being paid for using a federal grant and funding from the Greater Lafourche Port Commission and the parish’s recreation fund.
Contractor is Coastal Marine Contractors of Slidell.
