JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - Jackson and Teton County officials are considering whether to enforce a long-ignored ban on property owners renting out their homes for less than 30 days.
The Jackson Hole News Guide reported Monday (https://tinyurl.com/n34r7q8 ) the ban hasn’t been enforced since 2007.
City council members and county commissioners have been lax about the ban. Many residents have said the income they get from short-term rentals is vital.
City and county building and planning staff members say regulations already in place forbid short-term home rentals in most of Jackson Hole. They say that where it is allowed, homes must meet commercial building codes to be rented out legally.
Staff members say computer software is available to help spot illegal short-term rentals.
