ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) - A man has been charged with breaking into a Vermont home and assaulting a 17-year-old in the residence.

The break-in and assault happened Sunday night in the town of St. Albans. Police said the teen identified the suspect as 23-year-old James Cross of Swanton.

Cross was later found and charged with burglary, simple assault, interference with access to emergency services and driving with a criminally suspended license. He’s been jailed at the Northwest State Correctional Facility for lack of $20,000 bail.

It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
