WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts prison inmate convicted in what authorities said was the racially motivated killings of two people and raping and shooting a third victim was found unresponsive in his Shirley jail cell and has died.

Keith Luke died Monday at the University of Massachusetts Hospital in Worcester. The Enterprise of Brockton reports (https://bit.ly/1qxbyud ) that he was on life support since Saturday.

Officials would not disclose the cause of death.

The 28-year-old Luke was serving two life sentences for the 2009 murders of Selma Goncalves and Arlindo Goncalves who are not related, and raping and shooting another person. All three victims were of Cape Verdean descent.

He was convicted last May.

Luke attempted suicide in jail at least three times and carved a swastika on his forehead.
