DEKALB, Ill. (AP) - Police at Northern Illinois University are training this month for active-shooter situations.

The school was the site of a deadly campus shooting in 2008 when a gunman killed five people and injured more than a dozen others before killing himself.

Officers at the DeKalb campus started training on Monday. The drills will culminate in a full-scale simulation on May 30. That effort will include police from the cities of DeKalb and Sycamore, DeKalb County Sheriff’s police and Illinois State Police.

The Daily Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1mSnUY4 ) it will be the first training simulation of its size in the county.
