FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a suspected natural gas explosion leveled a vacant Flint house, damaging nearby homes and injuring some people nearby.

The Flint Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1sozjQQ ) the blast on the city’s south side early Tuesday shook houses and windows several miles away.

Police Sgt. Norman Hoydic says the injuries reported were by neighbors and are considered to be minor. Flint firefighters and a utility also responded.

Tim Shampine, who lives nearby, says he was getting ready for bed when he saw flash, heard the blast and was blown back a few steps. Broken windows and other structural damage could be seen to homes and businesses within a block radius of the house.

The explosion is under investigation.
