MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island judge says he will review a video depicting two police officers allegedly kicking and punching a man arrested during a traffic stop.

Acting state Supreme Court Justice Alan Honorof (AHN’-ohr-ahf) said during a brief hearing Tuesday that he’ll review the video before acting on a defense request to drop criminal charges.

Kyle Howell was arrested April 25 following a traffic stop near his Westbury home. The charges include marijuana possession, tampering with evidence and resisting arrest. The 20-year-old has pleaded not guilty.

Howell’s attorneys say a video from a store near the encounter shows two officers attacking their client.

Police allege in court documents they were trying to stop Howell from swallowing a bag of marijuana.

The judge ordered all parties to return to court on Monday.
