TYLER, Texas (AP) - An East Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison for a 2013 fatal shooting in a mall parking lot.

A Smith County jury on Tuesday sentenced 26-year-old Ricky Neal Jr. of Henderson.

Jurors on May 7 convicted Neal of murder in the slaying of 23-year-old Christopher Mass of Tyler.

Investigators have said an argument about a woman started inside Broadway Square Mall in Tyler, then the dispute moved to the parking lot.

Neal still faces an aggravated assault charge from the same incident. An arrest affidavit says Neal shot at but missed another man in the parking lot fight.
