PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (AP) - Police want to speak with a woman who claims a Miami police officer found dead in his home shot himself during a struggle.

No arrests have been made in the death of Carl Ronaldo Patrick, whose body was found Friday in his Pembroke Pines home. Police have said they are investigating his death as a homicide.

Tiniko Thompson told WTVJ-TV (https://bit.ly/1mU7WNh ) that her boyfriend’s death was accidental. Thompson said she was struggling with Patrick for his weapon Wednesday morning when he slipped and the gun fired.

Thompson’s attorney tells The Miami Herald (https://hrld.us/1jVUkSb ) that the woman didn’t call police after the shooting because she feared being killed. Thompson eventually told her mother, who called 911.

Pembroke Pines Police issued a statement late Monday saying they want to speak with Thompson.
