NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Police say the father of a pregnant teenager’s unborn baby is in custody for trying to kill her and the fetus.

Police say 20-year-old Raheem Wright allegedly set up his 16-year-old girlfriend by taking her for a walk near a levee while his friend stood atop the structure and shot her in the neck, chest and back.

Nola.com ‘ The Times-Picayune reports Wright, the 17-year-old alleged shooter and a third man brought the girl to the area Sunday under the guise of showing her horses. After she was shot, they fled.

A resident called 911.

The girl and the baby were in stable condition Thursday.

Wright and the shooter were booked Tuesday with attempted second-degree murder and attempted first-degree feticide. Bond for each was set at $500,000.
