KINDER, La. (AP) - Kinder Mayor Estes LeDoux will not seek re-election in the Nov. 4 primary after serving more than three decades in office, first as a councilman, then mayor.
LeDoux tells the American Press (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) he made the decision after much consideration, praying and consulting with his wife, Jeannie.
“I know that here in Kinder there is a man or woman who feels the way I do about our great town and would do a great job as Kinder’s mayor,” he said. “I am sure they will have the drive and desire to see our town grow and prosper.”
LeDoux said it has been an honor to have served 32 1/2 years in public office - 23 years as a councilman and 9 1/2 as mayor.
“As your mayor I refuse to dwell on the great strides that we as a town have accomplished together,” he said. “I would rather dwell on what needs to be done in the future to make our town a better place for our children and their families, as well as the elderly, to call home. I feel in my heart that I have tried to be fair to the best of my ability, to represent you in the fashion you deserve.
