RINGWOOD, N.J. (AP) - A man and woman have been arrested and charged with breaking into one of New Jersey’s historic landmarks.
New Jersey State Park Police say security video showed 44-year-old Robert Prevete and 48-year-old Donna Hopper Prevete forcing open a window and entering Ringwood Manor last month.
Police say the pair, who live in Haskell, were identified using the video and arrested last week at their home. They’ve each been charged with burglary and criminal mischief and made initial court appearances Thursday. It wasn’t immediately known if they had retained attorneys.
Ringwood Manor’s site once housed the American Iron Company, which provided material for American troops during the Revolutionary War.
An upgraded security system was installed after burglars broke in and stole artifacts in 2011.
