HOUMA, La. (AP) - Christopher and Kelli Duplantis of Houma had planned every facet of their second child’s birth - including plans for that birth to happen at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.
But Friday morning’s birth didn’t go as planned.
Christopher had just gotten off the night shift as a deputy of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office when his wife went into labor. Unable to reach the hospital on time, Christopher pulled their van over in the first parking lot he saw - at the Family Dollar store in Gray.
The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1oBOV64 ) that emergency responders were on their way, but Annalise Rose Duplantis didn’t wait. The 7-pound, 8-ounce baby girl was born before they arrived.
Both Kelli and baby were doing fine and were planning to head home Saturday.
