DETROIT (AP) - The fire-ravaged ruins of the 123-year-old former home of Detroit’s First Unitarian Church will host a final service this weekend.

A candlelight vigil and nondenominational ceremony are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the site in the city’s midtown area, north of downtown.

A fire destroyed the vacant church Saturday.

The group Preservation Detroit is organizing the service. It says the ceremony will have music and readings, including a speech delivered at First Unitarian’s first service Nov. 29, 1890.

The Romanesque Revival-style building joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It’s been vacant about a decade.
