VILONIA, Ark. (AP) - Less than a month after a deadly tornado outbreak devastated their community, more than 200 students graduated from high school in Vilonia.

The Log Cabin Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/1j1TE9k) that 209 seniors graduated during a ceremony Saturday on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas.

Last month’s storms that tore across the state killing 15 people were not far from the students’ minds.

Graduation speaker Jessica Stanley noted that she and her peers had endured two tornadoes in three years. She says the class has “proven time and time again” that they are the definition of Vilonia strong.

One senior, Savannah Riddle, was hospitalized along with her family following the April 27 storms. She said she felt thankful to be at the ceremony and have her family with her.
