HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Two of Pennsylvania’s veteran congressmen have withstood election challenges from within their own parties.
Seven-term Republican Rep. Bill Shuster and 10-term Democratic Rep. Mike Doyle emerged as the winners in Tuesday’s primary election balloting.
Shuster faced two Republican challengers in the 9th District in south-central Pennsylvania: Art Halvorson, a retired Coast Guard captain who is now a commercial real-estate developer, and Army veteran Travis Schooley. The district includes Altoona, Chambersburg and Uniontown.
