GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Daniel Spingola’s two-run triple keyed a five-run second inning that lifted Georgia Tech past Wake Forest 5-3 in an Atlantic Coast Conference tournament play-in game.

The ninth-seeded Yellow Jackets (33-24) advanced into round-robin play at the tournament on Tuesday and will face top-seeded Miami on Wednesday.

Mitch Earnest hit an RBI double that scored Ryan Peurifoy, and Earnest and Brandon Gold scored one batter later on Spingola’s triple to right field.

Mott Hyde followed with a triple to score Spingola, and he scored on Matt Gonzalez’s single.

Kevin Conway had an RBI single in the third and Grant Shambley added a two-run single in the fifth for eighth-seeded Wake Forest (30-26).

Winner Sam Clay (4-1) relieved starter Matthew Grimes in the fifth and worked three scoreless innings. Losing pitcher Jack Fischer (4-7) allowed 11 hits in 5 1-3 innings.
