LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Charles Hatchett has won the Democratic nomination for Kentucky’s 1st Congressional District.
Hatchett defeated 26-year-old college student Wesley Bolin in Tuesday’s primary election for the district that stretches from far western Kentucky across south-central Kentucky.
The 62-year-old Hatchett is a real estate broker who lives on a small farm in Benton. His campaign has focused on establishing a reservation for American mustang wild horses in western Kentucky.
Hatchett will be an underdog in November against 10-term Republican Rep. Ed Whitfield. Whitfield did not have opposition in the primary.
