CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Police in Charleston are investigating the death of an infant whose body was found in a vehicle.

Sgt. Tony Hazelett says the baby was found Wednesday afternoon in a car seat in the Kanawha City section of Charleston.

Police tell media outlets that a man believed to be the baby’s father was found alive nearby with an apparent self-inflicted wound to the throat.

Police detectives didn’t immediately release further details.
