DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - City officials in Durham say a sewage spill has been contained.

The Durham’s Department of Water Management reports that a sewer pump station was found overflowing last week. Officials said nearly 15,000 gallons spilled into a tributary of the Eno River.

Officials blamed the overflow on heavy rain. The department says the area has been treated and there does not appear to have been any significant effects on people or property.

The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources was notified.
