SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - The Orange County district attorney’s office has found that local police are not at fault of the death of man who stopped breathing after he was arrested for running onto a busy freeway and lying down.

The Orange County Register (https://bit.ly/1ofL8sM ) reported Wednesday that family members said 44-year-old Raymond Runge (RUN’-ghee) was incoherent and “acting paranoid” when he darted onto State Route 55.

Officers attempted to restrain him and get him off the freeway by applying pressure on his neck and placing him in leg and waist restraints.

Runge went limp, slipped into a coma and was later removed from life support.

After reviewing toxicology reports, a coroner’s pathologist determined that Runge died of complications from methamphetamine intoxication.
