JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State University track star Sharika Nelvis has been named the Sun Belt Conference Female Athlete of the Year.

The university says Nelvis received the award Tuesday during the SBC’s Honors Banquet in Destin, Florida.

The selection comes following Nelvis‘ selection as the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Most Outstanding Outdoor Track Performer after she won the 100-meter hurdles, 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at the SBC Outdoor Track and Field Championships meet May 9-11 in San Marcos, Texas.

Nelvis was also the conference’s Women’s Most Outstanding Indoor Track Athlete and was an indoor All-American after winning the 60-meter hurdles at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in March in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
