LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The Michigan Senate is planning to hold its 20th annual Memorial Day service to honor veterans killed in the line of duty.

The Thursday morning event inside the Senate chamber in Lansing will feature military members, the families of fallen soldiers, bagpipers, veterans and others.

The theme is “Lest We Forget.” Lawmakers will remember soldiers from their districts who died while serving their country and those missing in action.

Their families also will be recognized.

Sen. John Pappageorge will preside over the event. The Troy Republican served 30 years of active duty in the U.S. Army infantry, including two combat tours in Vietnam.
