NEW YORK (AP) - New York City work crews have been fixing the damage after a water main ruptured on the Lower East Side.

As a result, the Daily News (https://nydn.us/1n5y5ue ) says water was shut off Thursday at eight residential buildings and five businesses.

It happened around 11 a.m. A worker said Katz’s deli remained open for lunch but was using bottled water instead of tap.

The water main break also caused a 20-by-20-foot street collapse.
