ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Federal prosecutors say an Anchorage plastic surgeon has been indicted on three counts of tax evasion.

The superseding indictment issued Thursday accuses Michael Brandner of actions to evade taxes between 2008 and 2010, including making false statements to Internal Revenue Service agents and filing false tax returns. Prosecutors say Brandner failed to report the existence of financial accounts in Costa Rica and Panama.

The 65-year-old Brandner also was charged last year with seven counts of wire fraud. He is accused of scheming to hide his wealth from his wife and an Alaska court hearing the couple’s divorce.

Brandner was arrested soon after he was indicted on the fraud charges. Department of Justice spokeswoman Dena Iverson says Brandner was released after posting $25,000 bond.

An attorney listed in court documents as representing Brandner in the fraud case could not immediately be reached for comment Friday.
