North Korea said it will indeed take part in the Asian Games this September, despite the fact they’re being hosted on South Korean soil.

The regime announced the intent on Friday, giving some political and military analysts a ray of hope that the two nations could keep at bay some of their tensions for the coming games, The Associated Press reported. Pyongyang’s announcement came just one day after the two countries traded fire over disputed sea territories.

Nobody was hurt or hit; the artillery shells landed in water, AP reported.

Korean Central News Agency said North Korea’s Olympic committee is going to soon apply to the Asian Olympic Committee, making its entrance into the games official.

Earlier this year, North Korea motioned it was interested in competing in both men’s and women’s football.
